Asset Overview

An exceptionally valuable monument of sacred goldsmiths from the treasury of the Miechów monastery (Poland), which has survived to our times, is the richly decorated late-gothic silver chalice with a six-leaf foot. It is assumed that it was created around 1500, perhaps in a workshop in Hungary or in the capital city of Krakow. There are precious stones on the base of the chalice: sapphire, amethyst, ruby and emerald. In the upper part of the foot, figures of the Virgin Mary and an unknown saint are visible. ID no.: MZM/D/S/63 Time and place of creation: ca 1500, Krakow (?), Hungary (?)
