Asset Overview

Govan 28 ([Stirling Maxwell’s numbering](https://archive.org/details/sculpturedstone00maxwgoog/page/n46/mode/2up); ECMS 28) is one of 31 early medieval recumbent cross-slabs originally recorded at Govan Old in 1899. These monuments would have originally laid flat in the churchyard, likely marking the grave of a significant early medieval individual. Like many of the recumbent cross slabs at Govan, this stone has been reused. It exhibits the same inscription as [Govan 19](https://skfb.ly/6ZT9x), which caused sufficient confusion that the images of these stones were mislabelled in the ECMS. This 3D model was created as part of Dr Megan Kasten’s PhD, available here: http://theses.gla.ac.uk/74266/. The 3D model was created with SfM photogrammetry, using Agisoft Metashape, and edited with Zbrush. While the download of this 3D model is free, if you are able please consider supporting the Govan Stones by donating to the [Govan Stones Appeal](https://tghts.enthuse.com/profile).
