Asset Overview

Govan 4 ([Stirling Maxwell's numbering](https://archive.org/details/sculpturedstone00maxwgoog); ECMS Govan 3; Lang 4) is one of Govan's five hogbacks. While it was likely originally carved in the 10th century AD, it is one of two hogbacks that were recut at a later date to resemble a single beast (like [Govan 3](https://skfb.ly/6XVFw)). Like Govan 2, the underside of this hogback has not been carved out, but the difference in its display in the museum has allowed for Govan 4's underside to be partially captured (the edges and white areas are not 'real' parts of the surface; holes in the 3D data have been filled using Zbrush). This model was created as part of Dr Megan Kasten’s PhD, made available here: http://theses.gla.ac.uk/74266/. Created with Agisoft Metashape, edited in Zbrush. While the download of this 3D model is free, if you are able, please consider supporting the Govan Stones by donating to the [Govan Stones Appeal.](https://tghts.enthuse.com/profile)
