Asset Overview
Hannibal's march over the Alps in 218 BCE is one of the most riveting tales from ancient history. Described by both Polybius and Livy, the precise route Hannibal took has vexed historians. Here, I rely on both of these authors along with two modern analyses, one by Peter Connolly (*Greece and Rome at War*, 2006), and one by Jona Lendering at [Livius.org](http://https://www.livius.org/articles/person/hannibal-3-barca/hannibal-in-the-alps/).
