Herir Mountain Inscription The inscription is situated north west of Erbil city on the Batas Mountain, which is some kilometers away from Herir Town. It is 50 metres higher from sea level. On this mountain, in a rectangular margin with an image in a depth of 40 cms and 2.5 metres in height. It is inscribed with an illustrated soldier standing up, who appears to be walking south. He is putting one step forward; the right hand is raised and is clutching a long spear, the left hand holds the lower end of the spear which touches the ground whilst the upper end of the spear is raised up towards the sky and is tied with a ribbon. There are different opinions regarding the exact period that Herir-Batas Mountain illustration belongs to, but we can generally say that this illustration dates back to the end of the old millennium and the beginning of the new.
