High Cross - Dysert O'Dea

Text extracted fromHaribsson 1994 - a 12th C limestone cross 3.27m high. Decorated with cross-shapes and animal interlacing on the west with an early surviving St. Brigids Cross on the head. The base shows Adam and Eve between the broadly exapanding branches of an appletree. On the right of base are Daniel in the Lions' Den and an unidentifed scene. The east face of the cross is dominated by the figure of christ [head not original] dressed in a long robe and triumphantly streching forth is arms and, beneath him, a bishop with a mitre and volute crozier, proobably representing the local saint Tola,
