Asset Overview

This is the right scapula (shoulder blade) of a juvenile hippopotamus (*Hippopotamus amphibius*) skeleton given to the Lapworth Museum by Russell Coope. Its broad surface and large spine and acromion would anchor powerful shoulder and neck muscles in life. This specimen was digitised by Jack Mayer Wood using photogrammetry, and is part of a collection of bones from this individual hippo that have been digitised.
