Asset Overview

These fused vertebrae form the sacrum, the portion of the spine that connects to the pelvis, of a juvenile hippopotamus (*Hippopotamus amphibius*) skeleton given to the Lapworth Museum by Russell Coope. Significant remains of dried connective tissue have created some strange artefacts on this digital model, but the anatomy is largely unobscured. This specimen was digitised by Jack Mayer Wood using photogrammetry, and is part of a collection of bones from this individual hippo that have been digitised.
