Luke is considered the author of the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles in the New Testament. The feast of St Luke is celebrated in the Orthodox Churches, the Roman Catholic Church, the Armenian Church and the Anglican Church on 18 October. The saint is considered the patron saint of doctors, surgeons and the sick.
