Asset Overview

Arrowpoint made for humans and warfare, Sanak Island, Alaska. XFP-176-SO6-02-01. These types of projectiles were made to break off when entering the victim. 400 BCE - 100 CE. Andasitic basalt. XFP-176 is a small lithic scatter on a high terrace on the south edge of Sanak Island, Alaska. Probably a temporary camp for kayakers passing by. Classic fish-tail projectile, but of the style from Chirikof Island as described in William Workman's master’s thesis. These artifacts were scanned with a Faro Edge Arm. Processed in Geomagic or Polyworks. 4-8 photos were used for texture in Geomagic Wrap. The Sanak Island artifacts are presented as a result of the research conducted under grants NSF 0326584, NSF 0508101, NSF 1139266, NSF 1321411. H. Maschner, Principal Investigator. Original digitizing work done at the IVL at Id. St. Univ. Subsequent processing completed at Global Digital Heritage.
