Probably the largest granite boulder in the Detmold city area adorns the hiking trail Wasserpfad in Hiddesen. In combination with spring water, the monument is intended to offer nature lovers both visual and refreshing pleasure.
In 2011, the municipal utilities discovered the so-called "ice stone" by chance during excavations for a district heating pipeline. Today this find from times long past is the highlight at the Mufflonkamp barbecue site.
The imposing boulder probably made the long journey from Scandinavia towards the end of the penultimate ice age, while two huge glaciers with ice masses up to 200 metres thick worked their way up to the Teutoburg Forest.
