Asset Overview
Ichinoe Nanushi Yashiki is the residence of the Tajima family, who came here in the early Edo period to develop the new rice fields. Throughout the Edo period, the family served as the Nanushi of Ichinoe rice fields. The existing main building was reconstructed during the An'ei era (1772-1780).
The entire villa is surrounded by a moat and has a forest, fields, and garden in the style of a medieval lord.
The building was restored and repaired between 1989 and 1993, and opened to the public. The site was landscaped in 1998 and 1999, and the roof of the main building was replaced in 2006. The building became the property of Edogawa Ward in September 2011.
