Iron Scissor Handle UWG-1096.01: Bonner House Collection Waring Lab, University of West Georgia Scanned and Processed by: William Drumm, Public History Intern and Andrew Carter, Curator of Collections This scissor handle was recovered from the campus of the University of West Georgia during an archaeological investigation of the Bonner House and Plantation. Thomas Bonner came to Carroll County in 1829 with his father and brothers shortly after the county had been opened for settlement. The Bonner Family was among the original European-American settlers of Carroll County and first settled about six miles from Acorn Bluff, home of Chief William Macintosh, along the Chattahoochee River. Thomas Bonner owned the 202.5 acre Lot 99 from February 20, 1844 to July 28, 1865. Lot 99 would eventually be purchaed to build the 4th District A&M School that would become the University of West Georgia nearly a century later.
