Asset Overview
For our re-launch, the John Affey Museum have commissioned research artist Clair Le Couteur to design a set of twelve-sided accessioning dice. We use accessioning dice to number the things in our collection, believing that the semi-random numbers generated by a weighted die are a more scientific system than traditional approaches, which rely on the arbitrary date of accession, but still imply an order. The dice themselves are numbered 000.n. This version –000.3 – is our 50th Anniversary Edition, featuring pentagonal cutouts on the first and tenth faces. The number 42 represents 50 in John Affey's preferred duodecimal counting system.
The soundtrack we have chosen for this model is the Accessioning Waltz, which our former director Rev. Adam Origen wrote for the Museum. The recording was made in his flat in Vauxhall in October, 2016. Rev. Origen is sadly no longer with us.
