Reconstruction of a Celtic palisade on the Braunsberg in Hainburg an der Donau, Lower Austria. The palisade fortification, which protected the Iron Age hilltop settlement on the Braunsberg more than 2,000 years ago, was established as part of a cooperation between the Archaeological Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (K. Pieta) and the Institute of Pre- and Protohistory at the University of Vienna (O. Urban).
The Braunsberg is a 346 m high lime stick. The mountain was a city mountain of the Celts and still bears clear traces of the Celtic-Roman era.
