This fragment is located on the inner doorway of Kilnaboy Church in Co. Clare. The carving has Romanesque features and intidactes an earlier phase to the building of which only a few fragments survice. The carving is possibly unique in Ireland, but has parallels with carving at Killaloe in style. It may be from a doorway or window of the 12th century. It depicts a demonic head biting onto a moulding. The damage to the carving, and its placement in the wall make it seem like it is part of a figure, but on closer inspection the head is biting the decoration.
