La Sfinge de "La Passeggiata" di Terni

La sfinge si trova nei giardini pubblici della "Passeggiata" di Terni. Faceva parte della Fontana che si trovava davanti alla Chiesa di San Giovanni Decollato, chiesa seicentesca con grande cupola e bella facciata. Sia la chiesa che la fontana vennero demolite sul finire del del XIX secolo per la precarietà delle loro condizioni. Così le sfingi che ne facevano parte, vennero inserite nei giardini pubblici della Passeggiata. Fino ai primi anni del 2000, la sfinge era adibita a fontanella pubblica. The sphinx is located in the public gardens of the "Passeggiata" of Terni. It was part of the fountain that was located in front of the Church of San Giovanni Decollato, a seventeenth-century church with a large dome and a beautiful facade. Both the church and the fountain were demolished at the end of the 19th century due to the precariousness of their conditions. Thus the sphinxes that were part of it were inserted in the public gardens of the Promenade.
