Asset Overview
This Mount of Olives scene is part of the Calvary of Wilfersdorf and is the 1st station of the Sorrowful Rosary "Jesus who sweated blood for us". The depiction corresponds to the scene when Jesus, followed by his disciples went to the Mount of Olives to pray. Then an angel appeared to him from heaven and gave him new strength. And he prayed even more fervently in his anguish. After praying, he got up and went back to the disciples and found them asleep, for they were exhausted with grief. The groups of figures on Calvary were donated by Hartmann and Sidonie von Liechtenstein and date from around 1674.
