Asset Overview

Material: [Maiolica](http://vocab.getty.edu/page/aat/300021170). Accession no: HCM 291. Current location: [The Hunt Museum](https://www.huntmuseum.com/), [Limerick](https://www.geonames.org/7778675/limerick-city.html). A pharmacy jar or [albarello](http://vocab.getty.edu/page/aat/300198823) in maiolica, it is basically cylindrical in shape and slightly waisted. It is narrowed at the foot and at the neck with an everted rim. It is decorated with floral motifs in blue and is inscribed: COMM 7 or (s), in the centre. It possibly contained dry ground or powdered cumin. The decoration is similar to that found on [15th century](http://n2t.net/ark:/99152/p06c6g3x35x) Spanish imports. [Italian](https://www.geonames.org/3175395/italian-republic.html), Faenza or Venice. [More](https://www.huntmuseum.com/explore/item/97d289a4-c73a-3e40-8f21-ebd7dc73e869/?s%3Dcumin&pos=1).
