Asset Overview

Saint Mary's Column with a parish fountain below in Asparn an der Zaya. The baroque column with the depiction of St. Mary and Saint Ignatius of Loyola on the left and Saint Philip Neri on the right dates from around 1690. The founder of this Marian column was Count Philipp Ignatius Breuer, lord of nearby Asparn Castle, who immortalised his patron saints on both sides of Mary here. The Marian column was erected on the south-western edge of the village, and when the open fountain was tapped in 1925, the Marian column was placed above it.
