Asset Overview
Minerva, the Roman goddess and protector of craftsmen and trades, who wears a helmet with a plume of feathers, prevents Mars, the god of war, from pulling his sword out of its scabbard.
The statue of the two gods was created by sculptor Veit Königer. In the course of the expansion of Schönbrunn Hill and the redesign of the Great Parterre, mythological statues were erected along the hedge walls in 1777.
