Asset Overview
Memorial in form of a brick wall with the representation of the Marsyas myth. The monument from 1964 was designed by Alfred Hrdlicka and bears the inscription: The victim and fighter against fascist tyranny, racial hatred and war, dedicated by the KPÖ.
The Marsyas myth is a variant of the Hybris allegory (pride, overestimation of one's own abilities), which was widespread in antiquity, where the semi-divine or mortal wants to rise above the divine (perfect, timeless) and is sometimes punished cruelly.
