Asset Overview
The board enclosures on the north wall of the earthen floor are grain storage shelves called "mas". It is not known how they were actually used.
It could have been used for stockpiling rice for disasters or loans, rice to be paid as tribute, wheat or minor grains other than rice, but most likely it was used for seed rice for the next year, which is essential for rice production.
The design on the board is thought to be a marker for sorting the stored items.
On the far left is the Tajima family crest.
