Asset Overview
The medallion is a reworked silver coin from 1765. This is a typical decorative element which was used only with beads and the image that was the most popular in Podhale was the one of Empress Maria Theresa. One side of the presented medallion features an image of the Mother of God wearing a crown, with a sceptre in Her right hand. The Madonna supports a sitting Infant Jesus, who is holding an apple, with her left hand. An inscription that reads PATRONA BAVARIAE and the year 1765 runs along the inner rim of the coin. The reverse of the medallion shows a bust of the Bavarian elector Maximilian III Joseph Wittelsbach (1727–1777) as a long-haired man in profile.
