Asset Overview

'The tower was restored in 1862 by the Rev EWO Bridgeman, who also donated the octagonal font now in the church. Mr Bridgeman had discarded the old medieval font, but when it was about to be broken up, it was rescued by the Dovaston family from West Felton. By a stroke of good luck the old font was recovered in 1966 and can now be seen in the churchyard.' https://www.shropshirestar.com/news/2015/07/19/church-spotlight-st-marys-church-in-kinnerley/ "In the CHURCHYARD, W of the porch, a discarded FONT. Difficult to date. The base has a sort of interlace. The now worn rim of the octagonal bowl is inscribed with the Greek palindrome, NIVON ANOMHMA MH MONANOYIN (cleanse my sin, not my face only).' https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=3Zqbit3opjQC&pg=PA318&lpg=PA318&dq=kinnerley+medieval+font&source=bl&ots=R5Z6X4CtXU&sig=ACfU3U0H-DK7A8ZUqPhhvyWm0H1Yu6UT-A&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjBud6B7eb1AhVHa8AKHbd8Dq8Q6AF6BAgjEAM#v=onepage&q=kinnerley%20medieval%20font&f=false Created with Polycam
