Asset Overview

Mercury about to kill Argus, statue in marble after the original model from 1818 (A873). Thorvaldsens Museum (Copenhagen, Denmark). Made with Memento Beta (now ReMake) from AutoDesk. Once upon a time Jupiter had an affair with one of his wife Juno´s priestesses. When Juno found out, she punished the priestess by turning her into a heifer. and set a monster named Argus to guard her.Jupiter accordingly asked his son Mercury, the gods´flying messenger recognizable by his winged hat, to help set the priestess free. This was a difficult task, as Argus had eyes all over his body. Cunningly, Mercury offered to play his shepherd´s pipe for Argus, who was bored by his guard duty. Mercury played for such a long time that Argus finally grew tired and closed his many eyes. It is this exact moment that Mercury is about to take advantage of by killing Argus with his sword.
