Asset Overview

Model of Tongkonan, Toraja Sadang people, Sulawesi, Indonesia, painted wood. Musée du Cinquantenaire (Brussels, Belgium). Made with CapturingReality. Such models of native buildings have been made for foreigners. This represents a Tongkonan, a house where the precious objects of a Toraja family clan were kept and, at the same time, the center of discussions and rites. It is built on stilts, has the shape of a boat and is richly decorated with carved wood and paintings. For more updates, please consider to follow me on Twitter at @GeoffreyMarchal.
