Asset Overview

Captured from the Cast Courts at the V&A in London. This is a cast of the pulpit by Nicola Pisano made in 1864. The original was carved out of marble in 1260 and remains at the Baptistery, in Pisa. Reconstructed from 182 photos using Reality Capture. Some editing done in Houdini. VR viewing recommended! The Cast Courts at the V&A are fertile ground for photogrammtry, although the current restoration work means there's a little bit less space and less light than usual. One pleasant advantage is that the third-floor walkway offers a view from above, that helps get extra angles! It wasn't enough to scan in the interior of the pulpit (the level 6 walkway far above doesn't appear to be accessible to visitors), but it did prove very useful in capping off the top and getting at least a vague idea of the upper surfaces. It also helped RealityCapture close off the mesh neatly.
