This memorial commemorates the 47 soldiers of the Irish Defence Forces who were killed in Lebanon while serving in UNIFIL.
The Irish monument is situated at the cedar grove beside the Catholic Church in Tibnin.
The design of the memorial is a three sided structure, representing the three arms of the Defence Forces, the Army, the Air Corps and the Naval Service. Each side of the memorial has three languages, English, Irish and Arabic etched above the 47 names at its base, The structure sits on a raised plinth with the names of the 47 Irish soldiers who lost their lives in Lebanon while helping to keep the peace. The base of the memorial is made from white marble and the upper structure of polished granite. The memorial has been financed by Ireland and crafted by Lebanon, Ireland was the UNIFIL country with the most victims.
