A fragment of a Roman cup was discovered by a metal detectorist working with the Ouse and Derwent Project on the site of our 2018 excavation at North Duffield. It was red *terra sigillata*, 'Samian ware' that was imported from Central Gaul in modern day France.
Another distinctive sherd of Samian ware was recovered during the excavation, part of a flanged bowl. Both probably date to the 2nd century AD and are characteristically fine Roman table wares.
This is a 3D reconstruction of what the vessels would have looked like when new.
