Asset Overview

Paulo's funeral tombstone dated 544 A.D. possibly from Mértola. It is carved on a large rectangular slate plate. It has an incised decoration with two columns, a Greek cross and two rosettes. Keep an inscription: DEPOSI / TIO PAV / LI FAMV / LVS DEI / VIXSIT / ANNOS L E / T VNO REQUI / EVIT IN PAC / E D (ie) III IDVS M / ARTIAS R / A DLXXXII. The translation would be: Deposition of Paulo, servant of God. He lived 51 years. He rested in peace on the 3rd day of the idus of March of the 582 era (March 13, 544).
