Asset Overview

Also called Thracian helmet, this shape was inspired by the Phrygian cap which was prevalent in Indo-Europeans tribes like Thracians, Dacians, Phrygians, and Scythians from Eurasia. First to wear it as a war or ornemental helmet, the balkanic nobles and warrior gradually diffuse theses models in the Greece southward. It was finally adopted by Hellenic soldiers during the Peloponesian wars ( Fifth century before JC ). Later, this helmet was diffused all across the Mediterannean hellenic area, and was largely present in Macedonian army during the 3th century. First under the cavalry of Philip II, then in the Alexander's Infantry. It was in use until the Roman domination.
