A portion of a [baldachin](http://vocab.getty.edu/page/aat/300003762) (canopy / reredos) in carved wood with painted panels. The main painted panel shows the [Annunciation](https://www.britannica.com/topic/Annunciation-Christianity), with Mary on the left and the Angel Gabriel on the right with a dove between. There are angels on two, small, curved panels overhead. The words Ave Maria Gratia Plena (Hail Mary, full of grace) are carved in openwork lettering below the main panel (seen here).
