3D scan of a mounted skin of a quagga (*Equus quagga quagga*). The quagga is an extinct subspecies of the plains zebra. The last animal died in the Zoo in Amsterdam in 1883. Quaggas were endemic to southern and western Africa and became extinct in the wild in the second half of the 19th century. The Vienna specimen was bought in 1834. In total, there are 30+ quagga specimens in the world's natural history collections.
This quagga is not on display in the showrooms of the NHM Vienna.
