Asset Overview

Replica hafted scraper (Catalog # 2002:226.115), a part of the Michigan State University Museum's Archaeology Teaching Collection. This tool, created by Toby Morrow, is composed of a wooden handle element with a Salem chert scraper attached to one end using plant fibers and adhesive. In the past, it would have been used to scrape excess fur and meat off of hides as part of the tanning process, as well as in the production of various fiber materials and bone tools. Dimensions: approximately 22cm (L) x 2.5cm (W) x 2.5cm (H), weight= 65.6g This 3D model was created by Jeff Painter using an Artec Space Spider and Artec Studio 14 Professional, in partnership with the MSU Digital Heritage Imaging and Innovation (DHI) Lab.
