Replica Scapula Hoe

Replica scapula hoe (Catalog # 2002:226.166), a part of the Michigan State University Museum’s Archaeology Teaching Collection. This tool, created by Toby Morrow, is composed of a bison scapula attached to a split-wood handle by strips of hide. In the past, chipped stone and scapula hoes were used in agriculture to break up and move soil for growing crops.
