Late 19th-century refined white earthenware rim sherd decorated with Rockingham pattern. This sherd originally came from a spittoon, which can be seen by the sharp angle of the small broken fragment on the interior portion of the rim (which marks the start of the downward-sloping ceramic top of the vessel). Recovered from a gold-mining town in the American West.
