Asset Overview

This object from the collection of the[ Shale oil Museum](http://www.scottishshale.co.uk/) at the [Almond Valley](http://www.almondvalley.co.uk) is a Hailwood and Akroyd safety flame lamp. Acquired from John Gilfeather, who worked as a lampman in Westwood pit after losing part of his leg when he was younger, due to possibly an accident with a hutch. Dates from around 1950. The 3D model was created by the Scottish Maritime Museum as a part of the Scanning The Horizon project, working with collections from Industrial Museums Scotland ([Go Industrial](http://www.goindustrial.co.uk)).
