Asset Overview
This so-called aedicula of the cross is located in the upper level of the Catacombs. It is named after a painted cross between curtains in an apse, which rises over a pedestal. Greek letters are beside the cross: the abbreviation for Christ (above) and (below) the word NIKA (victory). The other paintings show figural depictions from different times in a poor conservation status. Vine branches with a dark rectangle in the middle dominates the arched ceiling. Rectangular tombs (formae), in one of them relics of a mosaic epitaph were found, and a today still circular recess lace the floor. Researchers still discuss the exact dating of this part.
