Gertrude was a German Benedictine nun, canonized in 1677 by pope Clement XII. This was a saint of great devotion in the western europe, notable early devotee of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
This is a statue, made in wood, belonging probably to Convento da Saudação, in Montemor-o-Novo - Portugal. This piece is part of the collection of the museum of São Domingos, also in Montemor-o-Novo.
