The Santa Maria de Colombo is a replica of La Santa María, the largest of the three ships in Christopher Colombus's first voyage. This version was constructed in 1998 at Câmara de Lobos.
This small ship gives daily tours of the Madeiran coastline to tourists. Capturing it was quite a challenge! This scan combines photos taken at two different times of day, and it required meticulous masking of the background in each shot to ensure that the reconstruction would be performed relative to the transform of the boat rather than the piers around it - a naive reconstruction resulted in a very fuzzy model due to the waves.
