This is a test/tutorial on how to use bones as shape keys in Sketchfab if you are exporting them as an FBX from Blender. When exporting from Blender, you need to disable the NLA strips option under the armature FBX settings. I haven't tested with many different setups, but this model has a shape key that uses the x rotation of a bone with the formula sin(x) as the driver for the key weight. One issue I found when importing into Sketchfab is that sharp edges seem to break when deforming with the shape key, so if you need sharp edges you will probably have to physically break them rather than relying on smoothing groups. I haven't tested with face weighted normals or custom normals.
