Surface scan of the skeletal hindfoot of a sheep from the D’Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum at the University of Dundee.
DUNUC 2063 - Hindfoot of Sheep - Ovis sp. Height = 30cm approx.
In his celebrated book On Growth and Form, D'Arcy Thompson shows the mathematical relationships between the feet of an Ox, Sheep and Giraffe - "if we reduce the figures to an identical standard of length... the breadth ... will be approximately two-thirds that of the ox in the case of the sheep and one-third that of the ox in the case of the giraffe."
Scanned with an Artec Space Spider surface scanner. The resulting file is exported as an obj. and imported into Zbrush. The texture is captured during the scanning process and converted to Polypaint in Zbrush.
We’d love to hear from you if you download or print our models, especially if you use them in education and outreach.
