Asset Overview

This small oven door is from a "Star 6" Cast Iron Stove found at the Sukeek's Cabin Site, a late 1800s site at Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum that was the first home of Sukeek and her family after emancipation. Made by the American Stove and Hollow Ware Company of Philadelphia between 1869 and 1881 the stove design elements were covered by US Design Patent 3554. The model name can be seen stamped into the back of this conserved door, which was created using photogrammetry of the artifact. For more information on Sukeek and the site named after her, see our collection of related artifacts on SketchFab or visit [this finding aid](https://apps.jefpat.maryland.gov/neh/18CV426-%20Sukeek's%20Cabin%20Finding%20Aid.aspx). Special thanks to Rebecca Morehouse, Kirsti Uunila, Ed Chaney, and the Hagley Museum and Library for their assistance.
