St. Martin who died in 397, was originally a Roman soldier but ended his days as the bishop of Tours. He became a Christian after he had met a naked beggar and had shared his mantle with him. At night Christ appeared to him dressed in one par of Martin´s mantle: by helping the beggar he had helped Christ.
