Asset Overview
This boiler from the steamboat Irvington, which sank in 1838, currently rests at the Prospect Bluff Historic Site. The site is home the remains of a fort built by the British in 1815 and was occupied by a fugitive slave community for several years before the U.S. Army used it as a fort due to its strategic importance.

As of June 16, 2021, Prospect Bluff is currently closed to visitors due to the effects of Hurricane Michael. However, park staff are hard at work getting it ready to reopen for the public.
