This model depicts famous Ukrainian statesman Petro Konashevych-Sahaidachny. A general, a diplomat, a politician, a mecenate. He became a legend during his life in XVII century.
No one knows how did he look like: all the paintings of him were made after his death. No one even knows how old he was by the time of the death. That is why I didn't try to match the references.
We know that he exchanged the settled life with a house and wife to his cossack saber and tobacco pipe, but it may be only a fancy story. The thing that we know for sure is that he owned a sword on this picture.
This sword is one among a few swords in Ukraine with the confirmed history. It was presented to Konashevych-Sahaidachny after the victory in Khotyn battle by the heir of Polish crown Vladyslav in 1621.
Nowadays it is present in Ukrainian marines heraldry and what a shame that its images are so rare.
This sword is the sign of our victories that we can achieve.
Thank you for your attention.
