Asset Overview

The Enclosure on the top of Little Wood Hill in theNational Trust for Scotland's Threave Garden & Estate was first identified as a crop mark in aerial photo's taken in the 20th century. National Trust for Scotland Thistle Camp volunteers excavated a number of trenches through its ditch and obtained dating evidence suggeting an Iron Age date in 2014. This 3D model shows the excavations carried out at the enclosure by Can You Dig It volunteers during the summer of 2019 for the Galloway Glens Landscape Partnership. The excavation centred on the enclosures entrance & some of its interal features.
