In Tormain Hill (Ratho, Midlothian) there are several small carved rocks. This decimated model reproduces the panel with more complex decoration, with motifs using most of the available workspace. They also take advantage of the micro-topography of the rock to create almost 3D features. The panel was carved with a combination of circular and curvilinear motifs of vrious configurations and grooves.
This group of rocks, located on a knoll in Tormain Hill affords great visibility to the surrounding landscape. It was first published by J. A. Smith in 1875.
