Asset Overview

Hill of Barra, Kirkton of Bourtie, Aberdeenshire. This huge mass of serpentine rock is a glacial erratic and is situated on the summit of Barra Hill at an altitude of 190m OD. It lies within the hill fort and legend has it was thrown by William Wallace from the top of Bennachie at King Robert the Bruce for killling so many men in the north east. Canmore ID 144326
